Fragments of Build — Vol.007
This tote-shaped construction features two surfaces:
a pale blue collage surface
and a sakiori woven surface.
The relationship between these two surfaces shifts,
reversing their roles depending on how the bag is oriented.
By changing its direction,
the visual weight and structural focus move quietly,
allowing the construction to transform.
On the pale blue side,
layered collage fabrics come forward,
bringing color and surface relationships into the foreground.
On the sakiori side,
the vertical flow and density of the weaving
support the form from within,
softening the overall impression.
This piece does not fix a single “front.”
It is a construction that leaves the choice of orientation
to the person who uses it.
• Reversible construction (roles are inverted)
• Tote-shaped construction
• Pale blue collage surface × sakiori structural support
• linen × handwoven sakiori × leather × glass beads
• Entirely hand-stitched
———
Construction is not fixed.
Color and fabric are completed through use.
———
This is a one-of-a-kind hand-stitched bag. This piece was developed over approximately 10 days,
with nearly 90 hours of hand construction.
Every element — from the placement of collage fragments
to the balance of sakiori weaving and leather —
evolved through an intuitive process without a fixed pattern.
Because of this, the composition cannot be replicated.
No two structures could ever align in the same way.
This is a one-of-a-kind work shaped by time, material, and irreversible decisions.
